Mr. McLauchlin is a shareholder of Gessner, Snee, Mahoney & Lutche, P.A. Prior to joining the firm in 1996, Mr. McLauchlin served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Stephen M. Waldron in the Circuit Court for Harford County. Mr. McLauchlin has been rated by the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating system as definitively having above-average ability and unquestionable ethics, and in 2005 was awarded the Maryland State Bar Association’s Edward F. Shea, Jr. Professionalism Award.
Mr. McLauchlin assists clients regularly in business matters, contracts, estate planning, development and employment law matters. His business practice includes advice pertaining to business structures and formation, sales of businesses, and intellectual property. He routinely advises individuals, families and business owners on estate planning issues, including wills, trust planning, wealth preservation and estate administration. Mr. McLauchlin also provides assistance in real estate, land use and development matters. General civil and business litigation are part of his regular practice, as is the preparation of contracts to achieve business planning goals. In addition to estate and business advice, Mr. McLauchlin’s current practice also focuses on employment advice and litigation, assisting employers with work related to Title VII, the FMLA, the ADA, the FLSA, wage payment issues, employment torts, employment contracts, and restrictive employment covenants.
Mr. McLauchlin dedicates considerable time to civic, charitable and community activities. He was appointed as the Chair of the Harford County Economic Development Advisory Board and chairs its Land Use Committee. He is also a Board Member and Executive Member of the Harford County Chamber of Commerce, and was appointed to the executive board of Harford County’s BRAC Preparedness Advisory Commission (BPAC). As counsel to the Revolving Loan Fund, Inc., Mr. McLauchlin assists Harford County government in administering loan programs that lend assistance to businesses seeking growth and expansion within Harford County. He is a graduate and former Board Member of the Harford Leadership Academy, and a member of the Board of the Shelter Foundation, a charitable arm of the Homebuilders Association of Maryland.
